The mission is to further understand the mechanisms of neurodegeneration and find new treatments for diseases such as Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s and motor neurone disease.

The successful applicant will be primarily responsible for mass spectrometric analysis of a wide range of samples from other Centre scientists. Proteomics within the Centre is currently being applied in research programmes to discover new drug targets, to identify post-translational changes in a variety of proteins of importance in neurodegenerative processes, and to identify and investigate proteins in clinical samples or from transgenic animals in order to discover novel biomarkers of disease.
